MONTES CLASSIC SERIES MERLOT


This wine was aged in American oak for six months. It is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. All of the grapes were handharvested. The yield was about 8-10 tons per hectare (3-4 tons per acre). The wine underwent a light one soft pad filtration before bottling. Interestingly the alcohol level quoted in the information on the Hjo Grosshandel AB website (a PDF flyer) states that the alcohol is 13.5%

Denomination of Origin: Colchagua Valley

Colour : Deep red/maroon

Aroma : Olive, slight spice, coffee, plums, dark fruits, oak

Taste : Coarse oak, vanilla, dark fruits, olive, slight initial sweetness

This wine is fermented 75% in American oak barrels, 25% in stainless steel with 45% of malolactic fermentation. The process is carried out under controlled temperature conditions to maintain the fruity aromas. Pale gold in colour with shades of green, its aroma blends butter, hints of vanilla and tropical fruits. Fresh and fruity, with good body and balance and a creamy complexity in mid palate, with an elegant and persistent finish

Aroma : blend butter and hints of vanilla and tropical fruits like banana and ripe pineapple
